Master of the Mountain

Eunice Pennington finished her first novel, Master of the Mountain, in 1962. She described it:

“A novel with an Ozark setting, a historical background, the mystery of a hidden treasure with lots of local color.”

I added a bit more to the back cover text:

“Oliver Dolan never thought he would wind up in prison, much less caught up in a mysterious scheme involving a young woman with a missing husband, old hill folk, and a possible long lost home. Mystery, murder, and madness converge in the Missouri Ozarks along the Eleven Point River. Legendary gold, love, and a plot that will either save a young man’s soul or destroy it completely.”

I also created the cover using old family photos– because as I was reviewing and editing it I was comparing the character descriptions to family members I heard about and they had a lot in common.

Read the story and discover the mystery!

Three more books remain with the #penningtonbook project!
