BJ is finally making some progress! It’s been a long time in coming but History of the Ozarks is in its final round of edits.
Unlike other books in the #penningtonbook project series, BJ did do some minor revisions and rearranging with this book. Due to her background as a historian and folklorist, this book presented some challenges in formatting and a little in content. Overall, the book is still in the original spirit– BJ just adjusted the headings and moved certain passages around to help with flow and organization.
As far as content goes, BJ added copious footnotes in order to not detract from the version Eunice created– other than changing out some outdated terminology. However, she felt the need to provide context, correct some assumptions from the time period Eunice wrote the book, and to provide factual information as needed.
Due to BJ’s inordinate need to add footnotes, it took longer than expected to get to print!
In other news, BJ is plugging away at the Barely Revised Edition of Ozark National Scenic Riverways. She is finding it a challenge to find time to complete all her projects, be present with her family, and still get enough sleep but slow progress is still progress.
Hopefully, depending on how things go the next few weeks, BJ is planning on releasing both books this fall!
