“Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.”
– William Wordsworth
Following in the footsteps of their grandmother and father, BJ and PJ both write as time allows. Get to know the younger generation and check out some of their works!
BJ Roshone

BJ is the chief editor, head grunt, and overachiever of the family. A lover of the outdoors, storytelling, and photography, she now calls Valentine, Nebraska home—though her heart still writes from the hills and hollers of the Ozarks. Life with two kids, two dogs, and a handful of jobs doesn’t leave much time for writing, but she squeezes it in whenever she can.
Her creative journey began in 2017 with a tongue-in-cheek blog chronicling her hiking misadventures, which eventually paved the way for the founding of JP Brand Books. When she’s not writing creative nonfiction, BJ dabbles in poetry and short fiction while chipping away at a full-length novel. Her work leans toward realist fiction, but she’s heavily influenced by the Southern gothic mystery tales of her grandmother, Eunice—especially Master of the Mountains and The Ladybird Mystery. BJ adds her own supernatural twist to the stories, blending folklore and the uncanny with grounded, emotional storytelling.

PJ Harrelson

PJ is the editor’s editor and by far the better writer than BJ. She does not like to pose for pictures, so BJ scourged up this photo of her.
PJ lives in Arlington, Texas, with her husband and two children. She enjoys a faster pace but misses her old Missouri home.
PJ enjoys exploring all genres but she has a soft spot for penning fantasy, historical fiction, and hillbilly or rural noir.

Pike Creek Girls

PJ and BJ grew up on the banks of Pike Creek and while they no longer live there, they will always be Pike Creek Girls. In the time of Covid, they started plotting. They have a small YouTube channel where they talk about growing up in the Ozarks and other things.
